Acne Treatments

Acne can affect teenagers and adults alike, manifesting as sore raised pustules.

Without proper treatment these spots can lead to scarring and can really knock the confidence of those who suffer with the condition.

Acne Treatment

People used to believe that acne was caused by lack of hygiene and eating too much junk food, and these two acts could certainly exacerbate things. However we now know that the leading cause of acne is hormonal imbalance, which is why it most often affects teenagers and menopausal women.

An increase in the Androgen hormone stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce more oil. This increased production of oil leads to blocked pores. Bacteria which occurs naturally on the skin then feeds on and breaks down the oil, which in turn produces spots on the surface of the skin.

What can Ellipse acne treatment do for me?

Our light technology uses specifically selected wavelengths and pulse duration to penetrate the skin where it is absorbed by Haemoglobin (a substance within the blood) which in turn heats the area creating a reaction within the sebaceous glands (the glands that produce oil). This in turn slows down the overall rate of oil production that leads to acne, thus dramatically reducing the chance of spots and minimizing the overall appearance of your pores

The best results are achieved on inflammatory acne, best known as the sore, red, raised pimples. The procedure is non-invasive since the applicator only lightly touches the skins surface, making it relatively painless. Tolerance to pain is very individual but it has been likened to the warm feeling you get on your face after a day in the sun.

How many treatments will I need and how long will it take?

The average treatment takes around 20 minutes, and you will need around 4 treatments, 3 weeks apart for best results.
